For car dealerships and independent auto sellers
Car Dealership Testimonials on Delivery Day
The happiest a car buyer will ever be with your dealership is the moment they pick up the keys. By the time a survey arrives, they remember the finance office and the wait. Work through the checklist to set up an ask at the handover, recorded by the buyer on their own phone, with an email for anyone who would rather answer at home.
- A QR code at the delivery bay
- The buyer films, not the salesperson
- An email for the ones who drive straight off
The problem, solved
Why delivery day testimonials slip away, and how StoryProof catches them
Situation 1 of 5
The survey arrives after the excitement
A week later the buyer remembers the paperwork, not the moment they saw the car with a bow on it.
How StoryProof solves it
Put the collection link on a QR code at the delivery bay, so the buyer can record while they are still standing next to the car.
Situation 2 of 5
Our salespeople film buyers on their phones
A clip on a salesperson’s phone ends up in a chat thread, with no consent recorded and no way to find it later.
How StoryProof solves it
The buyer scans the code and records the video in their own browser, with no app. It arrives in StoryProof, not in someone’s camera roll.
Situation 3 of 5
Buyers just want to drive away
Some customers have waited long enough and want to leave. Pushing a video then sours the delivery.
How StoryProof solves it
Add them as a contact and email the link that evening. From Pro, reminders follow and stop once they answer.
Situation 4 of 5
We cannot tell which salesperson earned it
Managers want to recognise the people who get praised, and buyers searching for a car want to see the model they are looking at.
How StoryProof solves it
Tag each testimonial by salesperson, model and new or used, and choose which ones show on each vehicle or team page.
Situation 5 of 5
A buyer is unhappy and nobody knows
A problem at delivery, a missing accessory or a scratch, can turn into a public complaint if it is not caught.
How StoryProof solves it
From Pro, a rating of 2 stars or fewer alerts your team immediately and sends the buyer a personal apology email.
Delivery bay checklist
Set up the delivery day ask
Go through it with your sales manager. The summary works as a one page briefing for the delivery team.
Your ticks stay in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
The delivery bay, before and after
Without a routine
- A salesperson films the buyer on a personal phone
- The clip is shared in a group chat and lost
- A survey goes out a week later and gets ignored
- Nobody knows which salesperson was praised
With the checklist
- The buyer scans a QR card and records on their own phone
- Every testimonial lands in one approval queue
- Buyers who leave get an email that evening, with reminders
- Testimonials are tagged by salesperson and model
In StoryProof
Run it at your dealership
- You will need
- A delivery schedule with buyers’ email addresses
- A manager who approves testimonials before they are published
- 1
Create the form and print the QR card
Buyers can record a video, leave an audio note or write from one link. Maximum video length depends on your plan.
- 2
Add each buyer before delivery
Add them as a contact so the evening email is ready if they do not record at the bay.
- 3
Approve and tag
A manager reviews every testimonial, then tags it by salesperson, model and new or used.
- 4
Place by model and team
Choose which testimonials show on model pages, used car pages and your team page.
What happens next: Share the week’s new testimonials at the sales meeting. Praise by name is good for the team, and it keeps the routine going.
Before you start
What StoryProof does not do for a dealership
What this does not cover, and what to check on your side. Better to know now than after launch.
- 01
No dealer system link
StoryProof does not read deliveries from your dealer management system. Buyers are added as contacts by your team.
- 02
It does not post to review sites
Testimonials collected here are for your own site and pages. Manufacturer surveys and review sites are separate.
- 03
Number plates and faces need care
StoryProof does not blur anything. If a plate or a bystander is visible, decide before approving whether to publish it.
- 04
Email only
Follow-ups go by email. If the buyer prefers messages, the salesperson can send the link by hand.
FAQ
Questions people ask
Short answers to what usually comes up next.
Is it pushy to ask for a testimonial at delivery?
Not if it comes after the handover and is clearly optional. Most buyers who are pleased are happy to say so there and then; the rest get an email.
Should the salesperson be in the video?
They can stand beside the buyer, but the buyer should speak for themselves. A testimonial that sounds coached is worth less than none.
Can we offer an accessory or service voucher for a video?
If you do, offer it to everyone who answers whatever they say, and disclose it next to the testimonial where your rules require that.
What about used car buyers?
Ask them the same way and tag them as used. Used car buyers are often more anxious, so their testimonials reassure other used buyers well.
Still have a question? Ask the StoryProof team or book a demo.
Catch the moment they get the keys
