For app makers whose praise ends up in the store
Get Testimonials From Mobile App Users
Your happiest users already wrote about you, in an app store review that you cannot put on your landing page in your own design. Answer four questions below to find where your app should ask for a testimonial of its own, and in what form.
- Four questions about your app and users
- A recommended place to ask, and a runner up
- Store reviews stay where they are
The problem, solved
Why app praise rarely reaches your website
Situation 1 of 5
All our praise is in store reviews
The store prompts users at the right moment, so that is where happy users go. Your website gets nothing.
How StoryProof solves it
Give users a second place to speak: one StoryProof link where they can write, leave an audio note or record a video, with nothing to install.
Situation 2 of 5
We do not have users’ email addresses
Many apps sign people in with a phone or a platform account. An email campaign is not an option.
How StoryProof solves it
The collection link can be shared by hand, so it can sit in your settings screen, your help page or a message after a milestone.
Situation 3 of 5
Users are on their phone already
Sending someone to a laptop to leave feedback loses most of them on the way.
How StoryProof solves it
The form runs in the phone’s browser and takes video and audio as well as text, so a user can answer from the device in their hand.
Situation 4 of 5
Free users and subscribers sound different
A subscriber’s story about what made them pay is worth more on the upgrade page than praise from a casual user.
How StoryProof solves it
Tag testimonials by plan or by feature, then choose the right ones for each widget.
Situation 5 of 5
Our download page needs proof that fits
A phone sized landing page has no room for a big wall of quotes.
How StoryProof solves it
StoryProof widget layouts run from walls and carousels to compact badges and avatar strips that sit beside a download button.
Decision helper
Where should your app ask?
Answer for your app as it is today. The suggestion updates as you go, with a close second where two routes fit.
Your answers are scored on this page and are not recorded.

Proof that fits beside a download button
An avatar strip keeps the faces of real users close to the call to action without taking over a narrow screen. The reviews shown are samples, not StoryProof customers.
In StoryProof
Set up app testimonials in StoryProof
- 1
Create a short, phone friendly form
Two prompts at most. Users answer by text, audio note or video in the phone browser.
- 2
Place the link on your chosen route
Add it to the app, a help page or a community post. If you hold emails, add engaged users to contacts and send a request.
- 3
Approve and tag
Approve the stories worth showing and tag them by plan or feature.
- 4
Add a compact widget to your download page
Choose the testimonials for it and pick a layout that suits a narrow screen.
What happens next: Keep the in-app link in place permanently. App users arrive all the time, and a quiet, always available link keeps collecting.
Before you start
What this does not do
It does not touch your store reviews
StoryProof does not post to, read from or change your app store ratings. The two run side by side.
There is no in-app SDK
The ask is a link to a browser form. You decide where in your app to show it.
Check each store’s rules
Before you put any request or reward inside your app, read the current guidelines of each store you publish in. This page does not interpret them.
Do not ask during onboarding
A user who has not reached their first success has nothing to say yet. Wait for a moment that shows value.
FAQ
Questions people ask
Short answers to what usually comes up next.
Can I put app store reviews on my website instead?
Read the store’s terms before you reuse its reviews anywhere else. Asking users directly is simpler: you get testimonials they gave to you, for your site.
Will users really record a video on their phone?
Some will, especially keen users. Offer written and audio answers too, so nobody is put off by the camera.
Where in the app should the link go?
Somewhere a happy user would look for it, such as settings or an about screen, plus a gentle mention after a success moment.
Should I offer in-app credit for a testimonial?
Be careful. A reward can bias what people say, and your app store’s rules may apply too, so read them first. If you thank people, do it for any honest answer, and say so on the page.
