Tour Operator Testimonials After the Trip

On the last night of a good trip, every guest says it was the holiday of a lifetime. Two weeks later they are back at work and the feeling has gone quiet. Enter the date your trip ends and get a plan that catches travellers once they are home and rested, but before the trip fades.

  • A QR card at the farewell dinner
  • The email arrives after the jet lag
  • Quotes filed by itinerary and guide

The problem, solved

Why trip testimonials go missing, and how StoryProof brings them in

Situation 1 of 6

Guests are packing when we ask

The last morning is checkout, transfers and flights. A form pushed at people in a hotel lobby gets a polite nod and nothing else.

How StoryProof solves it

Hand out the collection link as a printed QR code at the farewell dinner, so the ask is planted and they can answer whenever they like.

After the trip planner

Plan the asks from the last day of the trip

Enter the date the group says goodbye. The plan allows for travel home and jet lag, and the reminders line up with the follow-up automation.

  1. Day 0

Farewell evening: hand out the QR card

The guide thanks the group and leaves a card with the QR code on each table. No pressure to answer tonight.

  2. Day +3

    Email the request

Guests are home and rested. Send the link with one question about a moment from the trip, and name the guide.

  3. Day +6

    First reminder

On a plan with automations this goes out by itself, only to guests who have not answered.

  4. Day +10

    Last reminder

The final automated nudge. After this, stop asking this group.

  5. Day +14

Approve, tag and share with the guide

Read every answer, tag it by itinerary and guide, and pass praise and complaints to the guide who led the trip.

  6. Day +30

    Update the itinerary page

Swap the freshest testimonials from this departure into the widget on that trip’s page, ahead of next season’s bookings.

Dates are worked out in your browser from the date you pick. Nothing is stored.

Prompts

What to ask a traveller

A trip has many parts. Ask about the ones a future guest is anxious about.

About the guide

  • What did your guide do that you would not have managed alone?
  • Was there a moment the guide made the trip?

Leave out

  • Rate your guide from one to five, with no room to say why

About the group and pace

  • Was the pace right for you?
  • What was travelling with this group like?

For a first time traveller

  • What were you worried about before you booked, and how did it turn out?

Leave out

  • Questions about prices or booking terms

In StoryProof

Run it for every departure

  • You will need
  • A guest list for each departure, with email addresses
  • A QR card printed for the guide to hand out
  1. 1

Create a form and print its QR code

One form for all trips is enough. Print the link as a QR code for guides to carry, and choose the form language for each group.

  2. 2

Add each departure’s guests as contacts

Group them by departure, so the request goes to the right people on the right date.

  3. 3

Send the request three days after the trip

StoryProof emails the link; on a plan with automations, reminders follow until each guest answers or unsubscribes.

  4. 4

Tag by itinerary and guide, then publish

Approve each testimonial, tag it, and choose which ones appear on each itinerary page.

What happens next: Keep the guide in the loop. Testimonials that name them are the best training feedback you have.

Before you start

What this plan does not cover

What this does not cover, and what to check on your side. Better to know now than after launch.

  1. 01

    Review sites are separate

This plan collects testimonials for your own site. It does not post to, or pull from, any travel review site.

  2. 02

    No booking system link

StoryProof does not read trip dates from your booking software. You add guests and pick the date yourself.

  3. 03

    Email only

Requests and reminders go by email. If your group talks in a messaging app, the guide can share the link there by hand.

  4. 04

Other guests on camera must agree

A video a traveller records may show others from the group. Check before publishing anything that shows people who did not agree.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Short answers to what usually comes up next.

Should the guide ask for the testimonial?

The guide plants it on the last evening; the company sends the request. Guests feel freer to be honest in an email than to the guide’s face.

What about trips that end at different times for different guests?

Use the date most of the group leaves. Guests who extend their stay will answer the reminder instead.

How do I show testimonials for a brand new itinerary?

Show testimonials that mention the guide or the region until the first departure has run, and say plainly that the trip is new.

Can we ask guests during the trip?

Only for small things, such as a voice note on a highlight day if they offer. A full testimonial belongs after the trip, when they can judge all of it.

Still have a question? Ask the StoryProof team or book a demo.
