Best Testimonial Apps for Shopify Stores: 7 Tools Compared

Shopify review apps and testimonial apps do different jobs. Seven options compared, with prices from each vendor and a plain answer on which kind your store needs.

StoryProof Team10 min read

Search for the best testimonial app for Shopify and you get two kinds of tool on the same lists. They do different jobs. A product review app puts star ratings on each product and asks every buyer for a review after their order. A testimonial app collects longer stories and video about your store as a whole, and pulls in reviews you already have on other sites.

This guide compares seven Shopify testimonial and review apps across both kinds: Judge.me, Loox, Okendo, Yotpo and Junip on the product review side, and StoryProof and Senja on the testimonial side. Each gets its price from the vendor, a “Best for” line, and a straight answer on when it is the right fit. For a broader look at the category, see our buyer’s guide to testimonial software.

Shopify review apps vs testimonial apps: which do you need?

The quickest way to choose is to decide which job you are hiring the tool for. The two kinds overlap, but each is built around a different unit: a review of one product, or a story about your business.

If your store sells many products and shoppers compare them on ratings, a product review app is the better first purchase. If you sell a few hero products, a service, or something people need to see in use, testimonials and video may do more of the persuading.

Best product review apps for Shopify

1. Judge.me

Judge.me has one of the most generous free plans on Shopify. It includes unlimited review requests, a review widget, a star rating badge, CSV import, and requests for photo and video reviews. The paid Awesome plan is $15 a month and adds product groups, per-product email templates, custom forms, custom schedules and an all-reviews widget. Awesome comes with a 15-day free trial (Judge.me help center (opens in a new tab)).

If you want product reviews with almost no cost and little setup, Judge.me is hard to beat, and it is a better fit than a testimonial app for that job.

Best for: Small and new Shopify stores that want product reviews and photo or video requests at little or no cost.

2. Loox

Loox is built around photo reviews. Its Beginner plan is free for new stores up to 500 total orders, with up to 2,000 review request emails a month (Loox help center (opens in a new tab)). Convert starts at $49.99 a month and adds video reviews, Google Shopping and referrals. Unlimited starts at $299.99 a month with unlimited review requests and priority support (Loox pricing (opens in a new tab)).

Loox suits stores where the product looks good in a customer’s photo: fashion, beauty, home. Expect to move to a paid plan once you pass 500 orders.

Best for: Visual products where customer photos sell, such as apparel, beauty and home goods.

3. Okendo

Okendo is priced by monthly orders. Its free plan covers up to 50 orders a month and includes automated review request emails, review rewards, review displays, Google SEO snippets and moderation. Essential is $19 a month for up to 200 orders. Growth is $119 a month for up to 1,500 orders and adds AI review summaries and a Q&A widget. Power is $299 a month for up to 3,500 orders. Paid plans have a 14-day free trial (Okendo on the Shopify App Store (opens in a new tab)).

Okendo’s listing also covers loyalty features, so it fits brands that want reviews and retention tools from one vendor.

Best for: Growing brands that want reviews, Q&A and loyalty from one vendor and can budget by order volume.

4. Yotpo

Yotpo’s free plan covers up to 50 orders a month, with automated review requests and on-site review display. Starter is listed at $15 a month and adds photo and video collection, Google rich snippets and Google Shopping ads; its price changes with order volume. Pro is listed at $119 a month and adds Google Seller Ratings, custom questions and an AI review summary (Yotpo on the Shopify App Store (opens in a new tab)).

Yotpo is a strong pick if getting star ratings into Google Shopping is the priority and your order volume keeps the Starter price low.

Best for: Stores that want ratings in Google Shopping ads at a low entry price.

5. Junip

Junip’s free plan has no order limit and includes unlimited review request emails, mobile-first review forms, product page widgets and rich snippets. Core is $29 a month and adds review requests with media, incentives and review replies. Growth is $79 a month. It adds Google Shopping, TikTok Shop and Meta Shops syndication, plus marketing integrations such as Klaviyo. Premium is $299 a month. Paid plans have a 7-day free trial (Junip on the Shopify App Store (opens in a new tab)).

Junip suits brands that care about a clean, mobile-friendly review form and want to send reviews to several sales channels.

Best for: DTC brands selling across Shopify, TikTok Shop and Meta who want one review feed for all of them.

Best testimonial apps for Shopify

6. StoryProof

StoryProof collects video and text testimonials from a branded link, imports reviews from 24 platforms, and shows them in 19 widget layouts or a Wall of Love page. Customers record or type in their browser with no app or account, and nothing goes public until it is approved. Shopify is one of the platforms it syncs from automatically on Starter and above, alongside Google, Trustpilot, Amazon and others, so reviews from several places can sit in one widget. Starter is $29 a month and Pro is $49, after a 7-day free trial with no card.

To add a testimonial widget to Shopify, you paste its snippet into a Custom Liquid block in the theme editor, as our guide to adding reviews to Shopify product pages shows step by step. For help picking a layout, see our guide to choosing a review widget, and the ecommerce page for how StoryProof fits a store.

Where a product review app is the better fit: StoryProof is not a Shopify App Store app. It does not send a review request after every Shopify order on its own, it does not attach each review to a product automatically (you label reviews by product and choose them per widget), and it does not send ratings to Google Shopping. If those are your priorities, use one of the apps above, and add StoryProof only if you also want video stories and reviews from other sites.

Best for: Stores that want video testimonials and reviews from Google, Trustpilot, Amazon and Shopify together on the homepage, landing pages and ads.

7. Senja

Senja has a free forever plan that collects 15 video and text testimonials. Starter is $29 a month with unlimited testimonials, one project and two seats; Pro is $59 a month with five projects and five seats. Its pricing page says imports cover 18 social and review sites in one place and 35 sources in another, and does not list Shopify among them (Senja pricing (opens in a new tab)).

Senja is a good choice if you want to start free with store-wide testimonials. For a side-by-side view, see StoryProof vs Senja.

Best for: One brand that wants to start collecting testimonials for free.

Can you use a Shopify review app and a testimonial app together?

Yes, and many stores do. A common setup is a product review app on product and collection pages, where shoppers compare ratings, and a testimonial app on the homepage, landing pages, about page and ads, where a longer story or a short video carries more weight.

  • Avoid asking twice. Let the review app send the post-order product review request, and send the testimonial request separately to customers who have had a real result, such as a repeat buyer. Our post-purchase review request playbook covers the timing.
  • Keep it honest. Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, whichever tool you use. Our guide to review gating explains why platforms ban selective asking.
  • Watch page weight. Each app adds scripts to your theme. Check product page speed on a phone after you add one.

How to choose the right app for your Shopify store

  • You want star ratings on every product for free: Judge.me, or Junip if you want no order cap.
  • Your products sell on looks: Loox.
  • You want ratings in Google Shopping: Yotpo Starter, Junip Growth or Loox Convert.
  • You want reviews plus loyalty from one vendor: Okendo.
  • You want video testimonials and reviews from many sites in one widget: StoryProof.
  • You want to start collecting testimonials for free: Senja.

Whichever tool you choose, the reviews are only as good as the way you ask for them. Our complete guide to collecting customer testimonials covers who to ask, when, and how to get permission.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best testimonial app for Shopify?

It depends on the job. For star ratings on every product, Judge.me is the strongest free option, and Yotpo, Okendo, Junip and Loox suit larger or more visual stores. For video testimonials and reviews from Google, Trustpilot and other sites in one widget, a testimonial app such as StoryProof or Senja fits better. Many stores use one of each.

What is the best free review app for Shopify?

Judge.me has one of the most complete free plans, with unlimited review requests and photo and video requests. Junip’s free plan has no order limit. Okendo and Yotpo have free plans up to 50 orders a month, and Loox’s free Beginner plan covers new stores up to 500 total orders (prices checked on 4 November 2026).

Do I need a review app or a testimonial app for my Shopify store?

Use a product review app if you want star ratings on each product, a review request after every order and ratings in Google Shopping. Use a testimonial app if you want video stories and store-wide proof on your homepage and landing pages, or reviews from other sites in one widget. Many stores use both.

How do I add video reviews to my Shopify store?

Pick an app that collects video. Judge.me lets you request photo and video reviews on its free plan, Yotpo includes photo and video on Starter, and Loox adds video reviews on Convert. For longer video testimonials, StoryProof lets customers record in the browser, up to 5 min on Starter, and you show them in a video carousel on your store.

Can I show Google or Trustpilot reviews on my Shopify store?

Yes. A testimonial app that imports reviews, such as StoryProof, can pull reviews from Google, Trustpilot and other platforms into a widget you paste into your Shopify theme. Check each platform’s display rules before you publish their reviews.
