For salons, barbers and spas

Turn the client in your chair into the reason the next one books

A new colour or a calm hour at the spa is easiest to describe on the way out of the door. Answer four questions to choose what to ask each client for, then collect it with a QR code at reception or an email that evening.

  • What to ask for: words, video or photos
  • When a photo needs written permission
  • Prompts for hair, beauty and spa clients

The problem, solved

Where salon and spa reviews slip away, and how StoryProof catches them

Four moments between the chair and the street where praise goes unrecorded.

Situation 1 of 4

Clients rave at the desk, then leave

The warmest words about a new colour are said out loud while the client pays, and they are gone by the time she reaches her car.

How StoryProof solves it

Your StoryProof collection link prints as a QR code for the desk or the mirror, so she can answer from her own phone before the door closes behind her.

Decision helper

What should you ask this client for?

Answer for the appointment you have just finished. The helper suggests the kind of testimonial that fits.

Is the result something you can see?
How comfortable is the client being seen?
How much time do they have now?
Was this a special occasion or a regular visit?

Worked out in your browser from fixed rules. Nothing is saved.

In StoryProof

Collect it in the salon with StoryProof

  • You will need
  • A StoryProof workspace
  • A photo permission form if you plan to use client photos
  1. 1

Print your collection QR code for reception

Put it on the desk or the mirror. Clients scan it and answer on their own phone, with no app.

  2. 2

Email the link after the appointment

For clients who were in a hurry, StoryProof emails the request that evening.

  3. 3

    Let one reminder go out

On a plan with automations, the follow-up template reminds people who have not answered and stops as soon as they do.

  4. 4

Approve and show them by service

Everything waits for your approval. Put colour reviews on the colour page and spa reviews on the spa page.

What happens next: A new review from yesterday’s client can be on your booking page today.

Before you start

Worth knowing

What this does not cover, and what to check on your side. Better to know now than after launch.

  1. 01

    Photos need permission first

Ask before taking a client photo, and get written permission for website and social use. Never post a client’s photo on the strength of a verbal yes at the chair.

  2. 02

    Medical-style treatments have stricter rules

If you offer injectables or other medical treatments, advertising and health privacy rules may apply. Check them before using client stories about those treatments.

  3. 03

Ask everyone, not only the delighted

Offering the QR code to every client keeps your testimonials honest and avoids picking only the happiest faces.

  4. 04

Named stylists need a say too

A review that praises a stylist or therapist by name ties them to your marketing. Check they are happy to appear, and decide what happens to those reviews if they move on.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Short answers to what usually comes up next.

Can I post a client’s before and after photos?

Only with their written permission for where the photos will appear. Ask before you take them, not afterwards.

What is the easiest way to get reviews at the end of an appointment?

A QR code at reception. The client scans it, answers on their phone, and you approve it later.

What if a client is unhappy with their result?

Deal with the complaint first, in person. Once it is put right, they get the same request as every other client, and an honest account of how you fixed it can be a reassuring review.

Should regular clients be asked at every visit?

No. Ask once, then again only after something new, such as a big change of colour or a first spa treatment. Being asked every time turns a friendly request into a chore.
