Add a testimonial widget to Wix, and size it so nothing gets cut off
Wix runs any pasted HTML inside its own iframe box, which has a fixed size you drag in the editor. The StoryProof widget loads fine inside it; the work is choosing a layout that suits a fixed box and giving it enough height.
- Code for the Embed HTML element
- A layout pick that suits a fixed-height box
- Height settings for desktop and mobile
Layout chooser
Which layout suits a Wix embed box?
A fixed-height box favours layouts whose height stays the same as reviews change. Answer three questions for a recommendation.
The recommendation is worked out in your browser.
The problem, solved
Common Wix testimonial headaches, and how StoryProof fixes them
- Problem 1
Reviews get clipped at the bottom of the box
Wix holds embedded code at the height you dragged, so a layout that grows with every review eventually spills past the edge.
How StoryProof solves it
StoryProof’s widget layouts include compact badges, strips and carousels, whose height stays steady in a fixed box.
- Problem 2
Every quote on my Wix site was typed in by me
A testimonial section you fill by copying emails is slow to update and looks less believable than the customer’s own words or face.
How StoryProof solves it
Send customers one collection link and they record a video, leave an audio note or write a review in their browser.
- Problem 3
Adding a review means opening the Wix Editor again
Small business owners rarely have time to edit and republish the site each time a customer says something kind.
How StoryProof solves it
The widget fetches its testimonials from StoryProof on each visit, so a newly approved one shows on Wix with no republish.
- Problem 4
I want only my strongest quotes on the homepage
A tight Wix box has room for a handful of cards, so a weak or off-topic one wastes scarce space.
How StoryProof solves it
Pick the exact approved testimonials each widget shows, and keep a different set for the services page.
- Problem 5
There is no room left for the full collection
Visitors who want to read more have nowhere to go once the embed box is full.
How StoryProof solves it
Every plan includes a Wall of Love with its own link, a hosted page of all your approved testimonials to point a button at.
Code generator
Code for the Embed HTML element
Both lines go into one Embed HTML element. Wix wraps them in an iframe automatically.
An Embed HTML element on the page
Add Elements › Embed Code › Popular Embeds › Embed HTML › Enter Code
<div data-storyproof-widget="YOUR_WIDGET_ID"></div>
<script src="https://app.storyproof.io/embed.js" async></script>Click Apply, drag the element’s handles to size the box, then publish and check the live site on a phone.
Assembled locally in your browser.
In StoryProof
Install it on Wix
Step 1 of 4
Choose the layout and testimonials in StoryProof
Use the chooser above, then add the approved testimonials you want. You choose which approved testimonials appear in each widget.
Step 2 of 4
Add an Embed HTML element
In the Wix Editor open Add Elements, then Embed Code, Popular Embeds and Embed HTML. Click Enter Code and paste the two lines.
Step 3 of 4
Stretch the box
Drag the element to the full width of its strip and set a height that shows the whole widget without a scrollbar.
Step 4 of 4
Fix the mobile view separately
Switch the editor to mobile and resize the element again. Columns stack on narrow screens, so most layouts need a taller box there.
Before you start
Wix-specific limits
The box does not grow with the widget
Wix shows embedded code in an iframe at the size you set, so a taller widget is clipped or scrolls inside the box.
Wix does not support third-party code
Wix support will point you to the code’s provider for problems inside an embed. StoryProof support is the place to ask.
No Wix app
StoryProof is not in the Wix App Market. The Embed HTML element is how it installs.
A layout change needs a resize
If you switch the widget to a different layout later, the Wix box keeps the size you dragged. Resize the element in both the desktop and mobile views after any change.
FAQ
Questions people ask
Short answers to what usually comes up next.
Why does my widget have a scrollbar on Wix?
The Embed HTML box is shorter than the widget. Drag the element taller, or switch to a layout that keeps a fixed height, such as a strip or carousel.
Do I need to set the size twice?
Yes. Wix keeps separate sizes for the desktop and mobile views of the same element.
What if the page has no room for a tall box?
Use a short strip on the page and add a button to your Wall of Love, a hosted page of your approved testimonials with its own link. Visitors who want more can read everything there without any box sizing.
How do I know the height is right?
Open the published page, scroll through the whole widget and look for an inner scrollbar or a card cut off at the bottom. Leave a little extra height so a longer review added later still fits.
