<script async type="text/javascript" src="https://storyproof.io/widget.js"></script>What is the Announcement widget?
The Announcement is the one layout that shows no reviews at all. It draws your heading, an optional message line and a button in a compact strip, and it can carry a close button so a visitor can dismiss it.
It lets you run notices from the same place you manage your review widgets, with the same styling and the same kind of embed code, rather than adding a separate announcement tool to your site.
Where the Announcement works best
- The top of any page, for a sale, a launch, a webinar or a policy change.
- A brand-new account, because it works before anyone has left a single testimonial.
- Seasonal campaigns, where the message changes often and your site's code should not have to.
When to choose a different layout
- Choose the Review Banner when you want your score and a customer quote in the strip.
- Choose the Rating Badge when you want a small, permanent piece of proof rather than a message.
What the Announcement can show
Your heading, an optional sub-heading, a call-to-action button that opens a link or copies a discount code, and an optional close button. Card colour, border and corner radius apply.
Setting it up
- 1Write the heading as the whole message, so the strip still works if the sub-heading is cut short on a phone.
- 2Turn on the close button for anything a returning visitor does not need to see twice.
- 3The embed code names the widget, not the message, so edits you make in StoryProof reach your site without pasting the code again.
Announcement questions
Does the announcement show reviews?
No. It shows only your own message and button. For a strip built from reviews, use the Review Banner.
Can visitors close it?
Yes, if you switch on the close button.
Can the button copy a discount code?
Yes. The call-to-action can either open a link or copy a code, such as a seasonal discount, to the visitor's clipboard.
Do I need to change my site to update the message?
No. The widget's settings are fetched when the page loads, so changing the message in StoryProof updates it everywhere the code is pasted.
